Promoting awareness and action for coastal conservation
Beach Clean-ups
Our beach cleanups are a hands-on way for volunteers to make a real difference. By removing litter and marine debris from our shoreline, we help protect local wildlife, preserve the beauty of our beaches, and raise awareness about the impact of pollution. These community events are open to all ages and are a great opportunity to connect with others who care about conservation. Whether you are a local resident or just visiting, joining a cleanup is a simple yet powerful way to give back to the Outer Banks.
Through our educational programs, we aim to install a sense of responsibility and stewardship in individuals of all ages, empowering them to take action in their own communities.
We believe that even the smallest signs can inspire meaningful change. That’s why we design clear, welcoming signage that encourages awareness and action in support of wildlife and coastal conservation. Our aim is to help every visitor feel a deeper connection to the Outer Banks and inspired to help protect its beauty.
Advocacy
Advocacy is at the heart of everything we do. We speak up for vulnerable coastal ecosystems and the wildlife that call them home—working to ensure their protection through smart policies, community engagement, and collaboration with environmental partners. We believe that by raising awareness and amplifying local voices, we can influence decisions that safeguard the natural beauty of our shores for generations to come.

A Community's Commitment to Clean Beaches
One of our dedicated volunteers, Sarah, organized a community cleanup event that attracted over fifty participants. Their collective efforts resulted in the removal of over 500 pounds of trash from the beach, significantly improving the local habitat. Sarah's initiative not only cleaned the coastline but also fostered a sense of community and responsibility among attendees.Restoration of Coastal Habitats
John, a local high school student, took part in our dune restoration program and was instrumental in planting over 300 native plants along the shoreline. His passion for the environment inspired his classmates to join the cause, leading to a school-wide initiative focused on coastal conservation. John's story exemplifies how individual efforts can lead to broader community engagement.Educating the Next Generation
Through our educational workshops, local teacher Emily has empowered her students to become advocates for coastal conservation. After attending our sessions, her class initiated a project to create informative displays about the importance of marine ecosystems for their school. Emily's commitment to education has sparked an ongoing dialogue about conservation among her students and their families.
